All our signs are deeply carved in redwood, which is very resistant to weathering. They will last for years with little care and attention. Your sign will have one coat of sealer when you get it. It helps to give it several more coats of sealer such as a Marine Spar varnish, on both sides. The wood itself is tougher than the varnish.
We charge by style and the number of letters on the sign. Most names will cost the same as the price tag on the sample, but very long names will vary. The length of your sign may not be the same as the sample. We start with a long board and lay names out to fit, so long names will be longer and short names shorter than the samples in the displays you will see on various pages. We also make signs in several different shapes (oval, round, etc.)
The time to make your sign will depend on how many orders are ahead of you. During the year, you can often pick up the sign (if that is an option for you) the same day of order. During holidays, it normally will take several days for delivery.
During the holiday season, Wally limits his business to making signs, keychains and names. If you are placing an order for Christmas, delivery will be guaranteed if received by December 15. During the rest of the year, he does other projects for which he takes special orders and will mail them within 7 days.
